At Hull York Medical School, we are dedicated to raising aspirations, guiding young people in their decision-making, and encouraging them to pursue careers in medicine and related fields.

We offer a variety of talks and workshops for local students in Years 7 to 13, as well as a range of resources for schools and colleges, designed to spark interest in medical careers and provide a glimpse into what it’s like to study medicine at Hull York.

Resource pack for schools and colleges

Our downloadable resource pack for teachers and advisors is full of useful tools to help you guide your students to unlock a future in medicine, including posters and an all-you-need-to-know guide to applying for a medicine degree.

The guide features top tips, key dates, information on contextual admissions and the UCAT, entry requirements, personal statement and work experience advice, as well as a detailed overview of the interview process - and what happens afterwards.

Medicafé talks

MediCafé is our comprehensive webinar series, designed to empower aspiring medical students on their journey to university. These informative talks cover every aspect of pursuing a career in Medicine - from choosing a medical school to how to ace an interview.

Our free webinars equip your pupils with the knowledge and skills they need to confidently pursue an application to study Medicine.

Anyone can book a place - students, teachers, parents and carers are all welcome.

Problem-based learning workshops

Strong communication and problem-solving skills are crucial for delivering exceptional care, which is why we make problem-based learning (PBL) the core of our curriculum.

Suitable for Year 12s, our taster workshops guide your students through a PBL case, with our medical students on hand to help them succeed.
